Proposition D – Drop the weekly council meeting requirement
Proposition D removes the line in the City Charter that says the City Council must meet at least once a week. This is a charter amendment that the City Council put on the ballot.
The council already sets its meeting calendar by ordinance, and in practice it usually meets every other week (Community Impact). The charter language doesn’t match how the council works today.
The council would still have to hold public meetings under the Texas Open Meetings Act. This changes how often they are required to meet, not whether the public can see them.
